Raymond Steven —
He Walked So Others Would Not Have To
Raymond Steven grew up in Sierra Leone, walking long distances through red dirt roads before sunrise to reach school. He knew poverty. He felt the weight of limited opportunity. But he believed that education could change everything — and he was right.
Through dedication and scholarship support, Raymond came to the United States. He is now pursuing graduate studies and conducting research on how education creates individual and community prosperity in sub-Saharan Africa.
He founded Ray Foundation because he refuses to let the next generation walk that road alone.
“I lead so I can serve.”
— Raymond Steven, Founder & Executive DirectorTo Create Prosperity
Through Education
To empower young people in Sierra Leone through access to quality education, transformative mentorship, and future-ready skills — creating a generation of leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs who build prosperous communities.
A Prosperous Sierra Leone
A Sierra Leone where every young person has an equal opportunity to learn, grow, lead, and create — where education is the foundation of community prosperity and no child is left behind.
Our Values
Education as Liberation
We believe education is the most powerful tool for transformation. It is not a privilege — it is a right. And we fight for it accordingly.
Servant Leadership
We lead to serve. Every decision — strategic or operational — is in service of the young people we exist for.
Transparency
We are accountable to our donors, our communities, and the students we serve. We publish financials and outcomes openly and without exception.
Forward-Looking
We prepare young people not for today’s economy but for tomorrow’s world of AI, digital, and entrepreneurship. We refuse to leave anyone behind.
Community-First
Local leaders, local voices, and local ownership are central to everything we do. Solutions come from within, not from outside.
Evidence-Driven Innovation
We believe in creative, evidence-based approaches. We track outcomes rigorously, publish results honestly, and change course when evidence demands it.
Help Us Build the Next Generation of Leaders
Every young person in Sierra Leone deserves the opportunity to learn, lead, and create a better future. Be part of that journey.
